Coombe Hut is for those who feel boxed in — by screens, noise, or schedules — and just want to look out at something bigger than themselves.
Set in open countryside, this light-filled hut is surrounded by sky, fields, and far-reaching views over the South Downs. It’s where you come to stretch out, switch off, and finally slow down. There’s nothing between you and the horizon — just rolling land, birdsong, and a stillness you can feel in your bones.
Inside, the space is calm and uncluttered. A soft king bed invites deep rest. The log burner keeps things toasty. There’s a simple dining table for long, slow breakfasts and late-night chats. Everything is designed to help you relax — no pressure, no plans, just peace.
Step outside to your own firepit, outdoor seating, and picnic area. A short walk through the grasses leads to your private outdoor bath — set apart just enough for you to soak in silence, surrounded by wildflowers, sky, and open air.
You’ll also have access to your own beautifully reclaimed kitchen, shower, and loo area — with hot water on demand, a gas stove, butler’s sink, solar lighting, and a 12v phone charging socket (car charger recommended).
Posted on CraigVerified Lovely escape with the kids. Wonderful walks and family time huddled around the campfire toasting marshmallows.Posted on NatalieVerified Perfect stay for a family of 4 ! Beautiful setting and so many things to do just a short drive away! I fully recommend this stay and will be rebooking very soon!Posted on Gemma RuthVerified We had a lovely stay, Shepards Hut as described. Facilities good and everything you could need for the stay provided. We hope to be back next year, thank you.Posted on AndrewVerified Wonderful place to get off the grid. We (two adults, two kids 8 & 10 and a chihuahua) stayed here for a weekend and will definitely be back. You're far enough away from everything to feel completely isolated, but close enough to town in case you need to pop in for anything.Getting to the location was simple, although it's a farm track so take it slow in low cars. Parking was easy and the hut was a short (1-2 min) walk away. Wheelbarrows were provided in case you need to schlep any heavy items. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The fridge was ample enough for all our food for the weekend. The bed was very comfy and the bioethanol burner in the hut was more than enough to keep us warm during the cold nights.During the hot days, we lounged on the beanbags in the sun, played frisbee or wandered around the ancient woodland that surrounds you. Alice was extremely helpful throughout our stay. Can't wait to come back!Posted on AmberVerified Alice’s Shepard hut is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy some beautiful scenery. Me, my partner and our little cocker spaniel Benji, had the best time. It was so private and had all the amenities you need plus more. One part I loved was letting Benji roam around the field exploring without the worry of a road or even other people walking through the field. The Shepard’s hut is so cozy and has the most comfortable bed. We enjoyed both evenings sat round a fire pit, listening to music whilst cooking some food over the fire. Right behind the hut is the serpent trail, which is great for walks. Will definitely be returning!Posted on JackieVerified Incredibly peaceful and private. A very special and memorable stay in this really clean and cosy shepherd’s hut. Loved cooking outdoors over the fire pit, star gazing and listening to the owls. Thank you Alice.Posted on YasminVerified We had a fab 2 night stay here, the location is beautiful, felt really private and secluded and the shepherds hut was so cosy! Alice was a great host, very responsive and ensured we had all the info needed for our stay (: The whole set up is lovely with the outdoor shower and kitchen and very well equipped. It was so much fun cooking on the open fire at night under the stars with owls hooting in the woods! The bed in the shepherds hut is ridiculously comfy and the burner in the hut kept us warm and toasty (: The welcome hamper was a really nice addition, toasting the marshmallows on the fire was a 10/10 dessert after dinner. We’ve already said how we can’t wait to come and stay again! Thanks for having us! 🫶Posted on TracyVerified What an amazing place! So peaceful and private and just what you need to get away from the stresses of life. Alice's directions were spot on and you feel as if you're driving into the middle of the woods. The site is at the end of a private road which isn't well maintained and it's a bumpy ride - 10mph and 1st gear all the way! But the site itself and the Shepherd's Hut are amazing. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in - and it's HUGE. The biofuel stove meant that it was lovely and cozy, and the shower was fantastic - great pressure and lots of hot water. If you're looking for simplicity and isolation then this is the place.Posted on ElliVerified The shepherds hut was perfect for a romantic New Years get away, it was very quiet and secluded. Our host had supplied everything we needed, we would definitely stay again!Posted on MartinVerified What a lovely little place this is, very detached from the busy world we live in each day. Cracking views and an amazing sunrise. The bed was insanely comfortable! Sadly we had to cut our journey short due to our daughter being unwell, but we will book again in the new year!Load more
