Just over an hour from London — but it feels like another world.
Perched at the top of a private lane and backing onto ancient woodland, Fallow Hut is a peaceful sanctuary for people who are done with the noise and need to pause, exhale, and feel grounded again.
From your doorstep, you’ll see nothing but South Downs countryside and sky. No traffic. No neighbours. Just you, the trees, and time to yourself.
Inside, you’ll find a super-comfy bed, an eco-friendly burner-style heater, and a table for slow breakfasts, quiet journaling, or simply staring out the window. There’s a mezzanine bunk for little ones if you’re escaping with a child in tow.
Step outside to a firepit, picnic spot, and your own sundowner setup — perfect for golden hour. And just a few steps beyond? You’ll find the heart of it all: a hot outdoor bath, built from reclaimed materials and surrounded by nature.
There’s also a fully equipped kitchen, shower and loo — all beautifully crafted and stocked with thoughtful touches and luxury toiletries. You’ll have hot water on demand, a gas stove, solar lighting, and a 12v phone charging point (bringing a charge charger recommended).
Posted on KevinVerified Perfect little getaway for some peace and quiet ☺ Amazing place to stay! So quiet and peaceful, farm shop and shops 10 minutes away by car if needed. Durleighmarsh Farm Shop had some lovely local produce. The host was very helpful and friendly! We will definitely be coming back again! ☹ There wasn’t anything not to like.Posted on MartinVerified Very GoodPosted on LilyVerified ExceptionalPosted on AlexanderVerified ExceptionalPosted on EmmaVerified Fabulous ☺ Second time going, beautiful place, got to see a few animals about, birds a barn owl, deer in the field on our dusk walk up the path. Bed so comfy a lovely chilled experience with my husband, his birthday treat away. My husband was not a fan of the compost toilet but I didn't mind, lovely shower, something wild about showering in a field with birds singing all around you. Loved itPosted on KingsleyVerified Wonderful ☺ Great location, good facilitiesPosted on WendyVerified Perfect romantic getaway ☺ This is a lovely place to get away from it all, it really is secluded, the shepherds hut is comfortable and cosy and the separate building that houses the kitchen, shower and toilet is made of everything reclaimed, it’s quant and quirky, but at the same time is clean and has everything you need, the owner really has thought of everything. The fire pit is fab, evenings spent sitting round the fire toasting marshmallows were perfect. This was our second visit and we will return.Posted on Sally-anneVerified Great glamping experience ☺ Peaceful, relaxing and comfortable. Seeing the deer was a bonus. The facilities were just right and the welcome box a lovely gesture, especially the Raspberries. I would like to return and spend more time just to sit and enjoy the peace. If you’re not great at starting wood fires take some kindling it really helps to get the fire pit going. I took two fold up chairs as my mother is 82 so not up to sitting on the log seats. The track to the site has a few pot holes, but it’s ok. There is a little coop that was well stocked about 5-10 mins away if you need plus pubs. The position of the hut provides a stunning sunrise, and sunshine till late afternoon.Posted on JessieVerified Very GoodPosted on JamesVerified Great and comfy ☺ Everything and facilities ☹ NothingLoad more
