A few years ago, I was a single mum, stretched thin and worn out — working delivery shifts at night, raising kids, and wondering if things would ever feel easier.
My dad had an old shepherd’s hut sitting on his land. The same land where we celebrated birthdays as a child — where life always felt a little bit lighter.
One day, I asked him:“Would you mind if I tried renting it out?”
He agreed, and that simple yes changed everything.
I had no experience with plumbing, electrics, or anything remotely ‘buildy.’
But I borrowed a digger for a day, stood in a muddy field with YouTube open on my phone, and just figured it out.
One bucket at a time…
I reclaimed wood.
Laid pipes.
Dragged heavy materials through the mud in a wheelbarrow.
So much of the work was invisible, under the ground, behind the walls, but every bit of it mattered.
This wasn’t just about building a business.
I was building a place for people to breathe again, the way I needed to breathe
A place where life could feel simple. Still. Safe.
Today, the site has grown to two shepherd’s huts, each with its own private outdoor bath.
They’re quiet, cozy, and tucked deep into the countryside, no crowds, no noise, no pressure. Just space.
Guests come for all kinds of reasons:
To rest.
To reset.
To get away, just for a little while.
And when they leave, the message I hear most is:
“I didn’t realize how much I needed that.”
This is more than a business.
It’s my story, my healing, and my way of offering something real to people who need it, built from mud, heart, and the belief that everyone deserves a place to come back to themselves.
If you don’t absolutely LOVE your stay we don’t want your money which is why we offer a 100% refund guarantee for all bookings.
